This Is My Last Blog

I know what you’re thinking… “Chase, are you shutting down your website?”.

No, I am not. To explain myself and the reason for the title – I don’t want to be a blogger. I unfortunately just don’t have a passion for it. I am more of a visual creator and really love making videos. Plus, I have never been a great writer (shoutout to Linds for being my editor).

What I am planning on doing now is going back to school to take some film courses, hopefully get new equipment, and to change the course of my life in a direction where I am the most happy.

I am not a believer in the typical rules of “growing up”:

  1. Finishing college
  2. Finding a career
  3. Settling down
  4. Buying a house
  5. Getting married
  6. Having kids

etc.

I want to travel, not work a 9-5 desk job, try new things, take risks and experience life in a different way (compared to most people). I know this is a path that is looked down upon. This is an unusual path and it will be tough to take. But fuck it, the goal in life is to not regret anything right? So that’s what I am going to do. I have some ideas of where I would like to be in a year or so from now, but I am also just going to go with the flow and see where my life takes me.

This summer definitely helped me open my eyes. I moved somewhere new where I only knew one other person. I took a commission based job and was able to work my own hours. I met cool and interesting people and hopefully even some that I will remain in contact with, as I head towards my next adventure. I have become more thankful for my parents and family, for all that they do. I found who my true friends are, and hope they know that I always have their back no matter what. I may not be living my dream life just yet, but I am taking a step in the right direction and going to keep working at it. All I can say so far, is that I am a ‘helluva’ lot happier than I was back in April.

So what’s next for thatsgnarly.com?

The website is here to stay. That’s Gnarly as a whole, however, is making a slight change. It will no longer be seen as a blog but more of an actual production company. I am going to concentrate more on what I am passionate about and that is to make more videos and post some pictures along the way.

During this transition period, I may not post as much (not that I was really providing daily content), but I am going to make sure that everything I post is quality stuff and that it is something I put a lot of hard work and dedication into. No more half-assed posts or songs for you to listen to. I was feeling more that I had to post something, then to want to post something. So there could be days, weeks, or (hopefully not) months of time in between videos.

If I am feeling it, sure I may post a blog or two, but it probably will be about something I feel strongly about or something I really want to share.

I am deciding to put myself first and if it ends up being something that you’re not into, that’s fine. You don’t have to follow me or the site. But if you do decide to stay, you will get to grow with me as I produce the best work I can do at that time.

As for my past posts. I will most likely delete most of them.

I just want to thank everyone (the few of you I know who are actually reading this) for being a supporter and checking out my work. This may just be an awkward stage but the future is promising. The content will definitely improve as I improve myself as a filmmaker and creator.

If you feel similar to me, where you don’t want to live the same life as everyone else. Then say fuck it and do what you want. You deserve to be happy.

Also, I would suggest that you read: The Code of the Extraordinary Mind

I am still reading it but it truly made me feel inspired to get up and go after my dreams and goals.

As I take this unorthodox journey through life, you can join me and follow along by checking out what post on That’s Gnarly from here on out. If you go to my menu, you can check out the pictures I have already taken and edited…

So let’s get started!
